“Elvis Ate There”
When I moved to Seattle in 1996, I didn’t have any money so I ate at home. When I ventured out, I made my way to Dick’s Drive-In, Pagliacci’s, and the Deluxe on Broadway. The first time my parents came to visit, my AAA-card-carrying-vacation-over-planner dad booked us dinner at the Space Needle. After all, “Elvis ate there.” It was a success; everyone enjoyed the food and loved the view!
When your out-of–towners arrive, you’re gonna need to feed them, and they’ll want to go up in the Space Needle. So do both out at SkyCity. Most of the entrees cover the $25 per person minimum food order. The restaurant takes about an hour to rotate 360 degrees and has a killer view of Puget Sound (as long as it’s clear). Plus, after you eat you can head up one flight to the observation deck for no additional cost.
To celebrate the Space Needle turning the big 5-0 this year, SkyCity is featuring a dinner tasting menu created by five of Seattle’s iconic chefs, including two of my favorites—Tom Douglas (Dahlia Lounge and Cuoco) and Jason Wilson (Crush). The 50th Anniversary tasting menu is $62 and runs through the end of May. The proceeds go to each chef’s favorite charity.
I’d be remiss not to mention SkyCity’s weekend brunch—a great option for Mother’s Day or graduation. Brunch is each Saturday & Sunday from 10:00 a.m. – 2:45 p.m. It runs around $50/adult.
